The construction of a new water pipeline

New developments can affect Sydney Water's water pipes and other assets. Before any construction and building works can commence, the following applications and processes are generally required:

  1. Plan your building
    Building plans are to be submitted online to Sydney Water via the 'Sydney Water Tap In' Tool on the Sydney Water website.
  2. Get plans approved
    If your building plans ARE NOT located on or near Sydney Water assets, your application will be approved.
    If your building plans ARE located near Sydney Water assets, you will require a Section 73 Certificate.
  3. Get a Section 73 Compliance Certificate
    During your Section 73 Certificate application, you will generally need a Service Protection Report (Pegout). You may also need to engage with a Water Servicing Coordinator (WSC) who will design your new water pipelines in accordance to Sydney Water's specifications and requirements.
  4. Connect to Sydney Water's water assets
    A Sydney Water listed constructor like All Line Plumbing, will need to be engaged to complete the minor or major works as per the Water Servicing Coordinator's (WSC) or engineer's design.

Once the above processes have taken place, the new water pipeline can be constructed.

What is a Sewer Pegout (Service Protection Report)?

A Service Protection Report (also commonly known as a sewer pegout) identifies and precisely locates Sydney Water assets (such as water and sewer mains) which may be in close proximity to the proposed development. Only Sydney Water accredited personnel like All Line Plumbing, can prepare these reports for you.
